Hello Friends, Family and Community

After 1 week in SF General Hospital last week, I am out, and able to give an update on my condition and recovery. I know there is a lot of speculation as to what happened, how I am doing, and what I plan on doing in the near future. Marcus helped me type this note up to share all the details I can. In addition to the donation page here, we also started a facebook group for updates on fundraisers and recovery and an email addy just for recovery schtuff: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. So far the outpouring of concern and support has been mind blowing. I feel extremely supported, loved, and on a fast track to healing, though I know there is a lot of work ahead of me. I am ready. I am ready to heal and to face any life changes with grace and openness. If you have reached out - i am so gratefuL. It takes much longer for me to return emails and phone calls so please be patient with me :) I had no idea so much love was out there and feeling it has been an amazingly healing process - injuries aside :)

With a week stay in the hospital, three surgeries, and months of physical therapy I am facing a mountain of medical bills. I do not have medical insurance and am not eligible for local programs, as a visitor to San Francisco. I have been told that I am probably not covered by Medi-cal, but am working with a health advocacy group to try and get as many of the costs covered. You can help me with these costs by using this link to donate directly. http://www.agentred.net/donate

I know a lot of you want to help me by making me food or supporting fundraising events, which I am so thankful for. One of the best ways to help me is by donating
directly to my medical cost. Any amount helps - what you might spend taking me out to lunch, buying me a drink, or making me soup.

What happened: On New Years Eve, shortly after midnight, I fell during an aerial hoop performance. I was coming up on a drop in my routine and couldn't see my rigger through the crowd. I decided to try to improvise my routine around the drop, and I ended up falling 12 ft onto the concrete floor.

I badly broke my left wrist, which required surgery, and shattered my right wrist with  a compound fracture, which required two surgeries. I also sustained two minor skull fractures, a sinus fracture, and a couple pulled and torn muscles.

Initially unsure if they could salvage my right ulna completely, my surgeons were able to fuse a small shard of bone with the main bone in the second surgery, which gives me chances for a fuller recovery overall. I have four pins that will be removed and a titanium plate and some screws that I will keep. I will require a lot of rehabilitation, physical therapy, and patience. and chocolate, ;) Only time and will tell as to what capacity I will be able to perform or teach aerial again, but I have at least 6 months of hard work to get back to normal human behavior, let alone acrobatics. Also, computer work and any lifting will be limited for the next few months.

Thanks to the lovely Erin Shredder, I have a nice home to heal at in San Francisco through this week of doctor visits. Next week sometime I should be in LA and
would love to connect in either city. I am so grateful for all of you and that in the future we'll be able to play and create together.

Much Love,
Red
